About Us
We are a new community reporter team in Hartlepool. We are working with Peoples Voice Media, a non profit community development organisation that supports communities to have a voice. They empower individuals and groups to tell their own stories and develop their own solutions. Another organisation we are working with is Safe In Tees Valley, An independant community safety partnership supporting partnership approaches to tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and safety issues in the North East.
We are working in close partnership with O.F.C.A, a registered charity set up by local volunteers who wanted to help the community to make changes for themselves and get out of the spiral of decline the area seamed to be in. They operate a multitude of services and projects.
We are also in close partnership with Manor Residents Association. It is a voluntary group managed entirely by local residents from the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool. The Association was set up in May of 1989 in order to combat the growing concerns and problems that existed in the area at that time. Over its lifetime, the Association has continued to play a key role in the delivery of initiatives and activities which have been designed to benefit families living in the area. Creating a sense of pride in the area, lessening social and economic isolation, combating social exclusion and improving the overall quality of life for local people has been the underpinning focus of the Association’s work. By sustaining and increasing opportunities to develop new skills and increase confidence The are creating opportunities for local people to become involved in, and to play an active role in the continued physical and social regeneration of their community.
As community reporters our aim is to gather information, analyse it and prodject it to the community via through our website. We use media as a template to getting our point across which is anything from pictures to videos and vox pops. We encourage other associations and oraganisations to upload “their say” through the same method of communication and we can therefore leave our thoughts and comments.
